“You’ve got to get up every morning with determination if

you’re going to go to bed with satisfaction.”–George Horace Lorimer

“Every accomplishment starts with the decision to try.”–Anonymous

“Keep your dreams alive. Understand to achieve anything requires faith and belief in yourself, vision, hard work, determination, and dedication. Remember all things are possible for those who believe.”–Gail Devers

“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan “press on” has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.”
–Calvin Coolidge

“Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.”
–Winston Churchill

Up at 4:44 a.m., full of Love; two dogs waiting at bed’s edge, demanding to be rubbed; two cats waiting by their bowls to be fed; two turtles milling about their aquarium, happy when I turn their heat lamp on.

When someone else approaches the turtles, with food, or not, the turtles, Prynce, and Rue Paul, run to the back side of their box. When I approach the aquarium, the turtles come to me, huddling below me, waiting to see why I have come to them.

I think it beautiful how these reptiles have come to know me.

My dog, Morisson, is now at my elbow, putting his nose on it, trying to pull my hand off of this computer, and onto the back of his head. Morisson loves to be scratched.

I used to have children in my home, but they have grown. I still have children in the home, but they are of the furry persuasion. I believe that God gives us what we need when we need it, but we have to be receptive to the gifts. We can’t be wanting a Rolls Royce, when riding the bus is what we are supposed to be doing at the time.

The lyrics, “Shouldn’t have took more than you gave/wouldn’t be in this mess, today,” by the band Traffic come to mind.

I’ll soon be facing some challenges of my own. The last tier of my unemployment just ran out. It took me a long time to find a job, the last time that I looked for one. I’ll probably have to let my cell phone, and, maybe, the internet go. I probably won’t be without a cell phone, or the internet for life. I have no inherent right to anything, of such a nature, really. I don’t feel sorry for myself. As one friend of mine says frequently, “It is what it is.”

This morning, I am full of what I have, these dogs, these cats, these turtles, instead of what I, maybe, don’t have. I have been taught that God never gives us more than we can handle, and, in my case, that has proven to be true. I am thankful for this. I am thankful to be breathing the air of a new day, to have woken, this morning, to see a new day. May your day be blessed.

It’s 32 degrees outside, this morning. I just took the dogs outside, and their piss froze in mid-air. I had to break it from them with a stick; gosh now I know what Sarah Palin, and The Eskimos go through in Alaska. Just kidding; I have no idea what Sarah Palin goes through in Alaska.

I’m watching the movie, “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo,” and am finding it fascinating. I love that two outcasts, of different persuasions, have gotten together for one goal. Outcasts of different persuasions are often as far apart as an outcast and a conformist are, which doesn’t really make sense. You don’t see no haired combat boot wearing men, hanging around with long haired sandal wearing tie dyed types; you didn’t see mods, and punks, much hanging out, back in the day, in England when there were mods going about in their long jackets, on their scooters.

Do you see lawyers hanging out with doctors? Do you see accountants hanging out with car salesmen? Do people mostly stick to their own?

I just finished watching, “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.” I found it to be a very powerful movie, despite the fact that I had to watch it with subtitles. I the end left me a bit flat footed; I wanted to see the two lead characters hook up, as they had for most of the movie. I am saddened that the guy who wrote the book, died before it, and the other two in his trilogy got published.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (original title in Swedish: Män som hatar kvinnor – “Men Who Hate Women”) is an award-winning crime novel by Swedish author and journalist Stieg Larsson, the first in his Millennium Trilogy.

At his death in November 2004, Larsson left three unpublished novels that made up the trilogy. It became a posthumous best-seller in several European countries as well as in the United States.[1] Larsson, who was disgusted by sexual violence, witnessed the gang rape of a young girl when he was 15. He never forgave himself for failing to help the girl, whose name was Lisbeth – like the young heroine of his books, herself a rape victim, which inspired the theme of sexual violence against women in his books.

K Poems of the Day

Would you have to have me?

Irish tea is stronger than English tea,
won’t you send your love to me?
I thought that I had forever a few times,
I didn’t, but I’m not giving up on going the distance.

Don’t need no church to sanction me.
Don’t need no state to validate my love,
for me.

I’m sitting here, alone,

at least you could be on the telephone.
They have video now. We could look at
each other on the computer.

Would that keep you happy,
or would you have to have me?

–Mikel K

And I Wonder Why Love Eludes Me

I want to punish her,
though she has done no wrong.

I want to kiss her,
though I have dismissed her.

I want to hold her hand,
though I have banished her
to a far away foreign land.

I want her to run to me,
though I have run from her.

I want her to turn to me,
though I have turned away from her,

and I wonder why love eludes me.

Shouldn’t have took more than you gave
By Traffic

Shouldn’t have took more than you gave
Then we wouldn’t be in this mess today
I know we’ve all got different ways
But the dues we’ve got to pay are still the same

Just trying to change the script for this old play
You’re reading and not feelin’ what you say
Comin’ on too strong for me to stay
Interpret what you’re seein’ anyway

Seems the simple things are hardest to explain
We’re just gonna come too soon, gettin’ all the pain
Footprints in the snow will show whether things are still the same
Till you get [Incomprehensible] someone, help to live again

Shouldn’t have took more than you gave
Then we wouldn’t be in this mess today
I know we’ve all got different ways
But the dues we’ve got to pay, are still the same

Shouldn’t have took more than you gave
Shouldn’t have took more than you gave
Shouldn’t have took more than you gave
Shouldn’t have took more than you gave
