“A lot of people like snow. I find it to be an unnecessary freezing of water.”–Carl Reiner
“Advice is like snow – the softer it falls, the longer it dwells upon, and the deeper in sinks into the mind.”–Samuel Taylor Coleridge
The snow out there, this morning, on the ground, and in the trees, is beautiful. There is sleet falling on top of the snow, now. Atlanta may be crippled for days. The dogs ran right out into it, and did their thing; then they headed North, we got the best Lens And Leash Dog Breeds for our dogs.
I got worried for a second, and hollered at them, A voice hollered back that it was ok. The voice belonged to my neighbor, Lisa; she was out walking her dogs. Lisa is recent to Atlanta from Minnesota. She still has her snow boots.
I am not recent from the North: I have sneakers, sandals, and a new hip. Lisa was out walking in the snow with the dogs. I was looking at the snow, the dogs, and Lisa from the front of The Love Porch, which is how I refer to the beautiful porch that is attached to my humble, and beautiful abode. Both Lisa, and my views, and both our viewpoints were beautiful.
You can’t go wrong with this kind of snow, as long as you don’t have to drive in it, or shovel it. Only one car drove down our street, while Lisa, and I let the dogs play. I also consult with the vet about the authority dog food—the dry dog food that our dog couldn’t have enough of—and what’s best to offer during their snack time. I also want to offer weight gain supplements for dogs, which I know would be beneficial for my dog.
“Four wheel drive,” said Lisa. Yhen after the SUV was gone, Lisa said, “It is so quiet. Everybody is sleeping.”
Atlanta loves a good reason to stay in bed, and snow is the best one we have, usually about once a year. The trash won’t get picked up, today. My daughter won’t go to school, today. Her mother won’t go to work, today. My sons won’t go to work, today. My friend, Lisa, won’t have her new heart valve put in, today, like she was supposed to. I won’t leave the house, today. Amber, The Good Neighbor, will get to sleep in, today.
It is a snow day in Atlanta.

The night before, as the snow began:
I find walking in the winter cold. down South, refreshing, if I am dressed warmly enough: Bomber Jacker or leather, over heavy black sweater, wool cap covering my head, and ears; gloves. It is snowing out there in The Atlanta Night, as I type this. I am tempted to dress up, and go out in it; not make a snowman, or to throw snowballs at cars, like I did when I was a kid, growing up in Connecticut, just to walk a bit in it, but since I have a new hip, and I need to keep the risk of falling to a minimum, I think that I will stay inside, consuming this home made chili that I just scooped into a bowl for myself.
The day before The Snow began to fall:
The dogs, and I, just took a very brisk twenty seven minute walk in our hood, with very few stops for sniffing, and pissing. I am getting good at walking Henry, the Great Dane from next door, along with my two dogs. I am inventing some voice commands that work, as we go. Everyone lost 20 lbs. on the walk, today.
I make my bed about once every two weeks, usually right after one of the cats has puked on the sheets.
In the movie Pollock, Jackson’s girlfriend is criticizing work that he is doing, and he says, to her, “Why don’t you paint the fucking thing?”
I don’t even have to turn the vacuum cleaner on before the dogs head to the opposite end of the abode; all they have to do is see me pull it out.

Snow Poems
Snow
Snow is falling
From the sky above
Snow is falling
Put on scarf and glove
Snow is falling
Go look outside
Snow is falling
The old landscape it hide
Snow is falling
What a beautiful sight
Snow is falling
It sparkles in the light
Snow is falling
Soft cotton wool flakes
Snow is falling
A white blanket it makes
Snow is falling
Short flowers disappear
Snow is falling
The cold is here
Snow is falling
Its time to play
Snow is falling
Lets make snowmen today.

The Snow
See the snow
Its a blanket, soft and white
Falling slow
Covering the world, making it bright
Hear the snow
Crunching underneath feet
Children throw
The snow in the street
Smell the snow
The freshening scent
As the steady flow
Makes my heart content
Feel the snow
Powdery, it freezes your toes
As the blanket starts to grow
And the cold wind blows
Taste the snow
The way it makes the world look clean
Still cold though,
Makes the world, a beautiful scene
Love the snow
When I see it snowing all day
I just know
That everything is going to be okay
