It has been a while since we have come across an original cocktail recipe to share with our readers. Most cocktails are filled with calories. The ‘Skinny Girl’ Margarita and diet drink lines seem to be all the rage.
I know that most folks like icy drinks in the summertime but here in the south the fall is hot enough for frosty, deck and patio, delights.
Here is a skinny version of the Purple People Eater made famous by our cocktail editorial staff, that is less than 150 calories per serving.
2 cups Crushed Ice (you can find the best nugget ice makers at kitchenbar.net)
1 cup 901 Slver Tequila
1/2 cup Triple Sec
2 cups Ocean Spray Diet Blueberry Juice
2 table spoons of Frozen Orange Juice Concentrate (Lo-Cal)
1/2 Fresh Squeezed Lemon
Directions: (Serves 4)
Put all the ingredients in a blender in no particular order and blend the ice into slush.
Pour in an extra large Margarita glass, salt the edge, and garnish with a Lemon Zest Peel Spiral.
…and repeat…many times….with friends…and camp out for the next 24 hours. You can also check out Aged & Charred if you want to make this drink with smoke.
Surprisingly this drink is delicious and has less than 150 Calories… so two will keep you under your fall calorie goals.
Enjoy responsibly and liberally and keep it skinny by saying no to the nachos!
