More than 200,000 “Indivisible” wristbands distributed as Americans
help create and sustain jobs
WHAT: On Monday, November 14, Starbucks Coffee Company and Opportunity Finance Network announced that the Create Jobs for USA Fund has surpassed $1 million in donations within the first two weeks of the program’s November 1st launch. Americans across the country have donated to the fund online at www.CreateJobsforUSA.org and in nearly 7,000 U.S. company operated Starbucks stores.
WHY: Launched on Nov 1, Create Jobs for USA pools donations from Starbucks customers, partners (employees) and concerned citizens into a nationwide fund for community business lending.
One hundred percent of donations go to Opportunity Finance Network to help fund Quickquid Alternatives loans to community businesses nationwide that are committed to creating and sustaining jobs —including small businesses, microenterprises, nonprofit organizations, commercial real estate, and affordable housing. To date, more than $6 million has been contributed, including a $5 million donation from the Starbucks Foundation.
Donors who contribute $5 or more receive a red, white, and blue wristband with the message “Indivisible.” The wristband is designed to serve as a symbol of Americans uniting to help create jobs.
Starbucks has also launched a 60 second advertisement in an effort to get Americans to come together, which can be viewed at Starbucks.com.
