“Don’t Give Up The Ship” these famous words ring out from Captain James Lawrence before he dies and in 1821 the City of Lawrenceville was established in his honor. Do you know how many people are buried on the Historic Courthouse grounds? Soldiers would pass through Lawrenceville on their way to battles Bring your family to learn who were the Ezzard’s, Monfort’s, Jordan’s and Maltbie’s and their impact in the Lawrenceville community. Our County and Country also had many interesting facts and stories that tie in at the same time as Lawrenceville see how they had a role in the city’s creation. History is and has always been important to remember, it is why and who we are today. Many names, places and events have happened throughout the history of Lawrenceville, come ride on our trolley and hear them all from Author, Historian and life-long native of Lawrenceville – Mary Long. We have created a journey of our history, local businesses and residential areas to allow you to escape and listen to stories of a simpler time and take you back to yesteryear with New Lawrenceville’s Trolley Tour of Homes. It will be a great quality family filled afternoon spent on the Historic Lawrenceville Square.
