Radio Birds release Contemporary American Slang today, via Brash Music!Full album streaming this week with Paste!”Hold On Me” via Elmore Magazine VIDEO via Surviving The Golden Age Video – SoundCloud – Download “Sleep City” via Perversion Mag SoundCloud – Download Photo: Carl Rosen “…check out “Hold On Me,” a crackling, electric rocker that builds with wailing guitars and slamming drums, weaving through a vicious, rasping voice that lays down a catchy hook perfect for shouting along. The accompanying video makes a fitting partner with the track: a rambling, gritty, whiskey and cigarette-fueled tour through the night.” – Elmore Magazine To see and hear them now, you might never believe that a few short years ago Radio Birds had a completely different lineup, look, and sound. In early 2013, rising united from their earlier musical experiences, these four young men decided to take a risk and start completely over with a new name and sound. They quickly worked up a batch of new songs, and by that summer they had recorded a successful EP and had begun playing extensively, even winning the 2013 Masquerade Musicians Showcase in Atlanta, GA. Within a year of their rechristening, they were booked for The Rock Boat 2014 (and 15!), were featured in a major motion picture (Jason Momoa’s “Road to Paloma”), played SXSW, and attracted the services of indie Atlanta label Brash Music. Things have moved quickly for a reason, and everyone involved points back to two causes: Radio Bird’s irresistible character and undeniably unique sound. That sound is simple: Plain-Old Rock and Roll Music with a distinctly hairy touch. Meaning, it is not clean, it is not easy, (or too difficult), and it is not The Next Logical Revival of a Previously Popular Genre From the Seventies. It is what you get when four guys all write music with the basic beliefs that it must be played live, and it must be played everywhere. Each of their songs is different from the others and is balanced by the web of harmonies that entangles the whole group. Everybody sings, and sometimes, you just can’t help but sing along. Over the past year the number of those singing along has increased dramatically. Radio Birds has taken their sound...

Istanbul’s Fuji Kureta share “Open Up,” in advance of Yetunde, due January 27th! NEW “Open Up” via Invisible Ink MP3 Download / SoundCloud “Entitled “Open Up”, the track is glitchy electronica set against female vocals, and is ethereally captivating. The song conjures up images of water dripping, and, had you not known the duo of Sahin Kureta (music/programming) and Deniz Ozturk (lyrics/vocals) were from Turkey, you would immediately think this is Japanese. I also hear a bit of Björk in this, too. It really tugs at your earlobes in a myriad of ways.” – Invisible Ink Fuji Kureta is an electronic pop duo; the members areSahin Kureta (music-programming) and Deniz Ozturk(lyrics-vocals). These two have been making music together since late 2008. They make songs in English and in French. The band’s sound oscillates between soft but strong melodies and very inventive beats. Yetunde EP is the first release of Fuji Kureta on Bloomington, Indiana/South Africa based Tree Machine Records. Somewhere in between moodiness and tranquil bliss,Yetunde comprises songs mostly written during the last months of 2014. With this release Istanbul based electro pop duo Fuji Kureta explore candor and introversion. The writing is inspired by the use of any kind of art to overcome unpleasant things in life. The band won “2009 best electronica act” award in Miller Music Factory Contest, in Istanbul. Then in May 2010 they released their first EP called SWEETS on Slovakian netlabel GERGAZ. The song “Bonjour” was a succes and has been used in an American independent road movie called “Small Beautifully Moving Parts.” During 2010, the band played several gigs in Turkey and Germany. Among others, they have opened for Mika and The Raveonettes at Miller Freshtival, Istanbul, and also for Owen Pallett at Salon, Istanbul. Fuji Kureta released their second album See-through in 2011, via Swedish netlabel 23 Seconds. In 2011 summer, they performed 2 live shows at the world famous electronic music festival KaZantip, in Ukraine. In 2011 Fuji Kureta appeared on Mercedes Benz Mixed Tape no. 38 Orchid Blast with their song Accident. The band then signed with California/Berlin based label Tiefhaus Records and released Fuji Kureta EP, and a single called “Cacti” on this label. The band released another album called ANDREY on Tiefhaus’ sister label Nikita Digital in 2014 June. Artist – Fuji...

Paperhaus share “So Slow,” the new single

Paperhaus share “So Slow,” the new single from debut LP, due February 10!NEW “So Slow” via Alt Citizen MP3 Download / SoundCloud“Cairo” via Stereogum – MP3 Download / SoundCloud “Cairo” video via Brooklyn Vegan “Untitled” via We All Want Someone to Shout For MP3 Download / SoundCloud “There’s a lot to take in here: dual guitar leads, sensuous vocals in parallel octaves, wispy echoes, a stilted bassline, loose soda-shop harmonies. And when “So Slow” gathers its scattered parts together for a jubilant high mid-song, the breath of oxygen is worth the wait. It’s the tortoise to the hare of Paperhaus’ other, more instantly gratifying tracks.” – Washington City Paper “So Slow” is the latest single from DC’s Paperhaus. It stands out as the shortest song on Paperhaus’ debut full length, mostly full of psychedelic epics, but it should also be known as the last song that line-up of Paperhaus ever wrote together. After hundreds of shows across the country, that song represented the beginning of the end, and while making the album Paperhaus (in 105 degree heat with no air-conditioning), that line-up decided to finish the record and then start moving towards a split, with long time members Alex and Eduardo eventually continuing on with a new rhythm section once again. Paperhaus is a band that has always had serious ambition, and maybe things were moving too fast. Quitting their jobs to pursue music full time, jumping in a van for their EP Lo Hi Lo to tour the country, even living together for two years in the DIY music venue/space The Paperhaus in DC. This song talks about going “So Slow,” but it’s really a song birthed from a time when things were moving too fast, without taking the opportunity to look around to see how you are really feeling, in that moment. Luckily, this album, recorded live to tape at what is now knows as The Blighthouse studio house in Petworth in the aforementioned sweaty pressure of personal tension and literal severe heat, serves as a document of the time, and the energy that was there, as well as a perfect introduction to the sounds of Paperhaus. So take a minute to slow down from the hustle of your daily life, and really listen to this one. If you’ve spent much time around the DC music scene for the past five...

Seattle’s The Grizzled Mighty are Releasing Their Third Album, Closed Knuckle Jaw on February 17th. For a taste of what the album has to offer, here’s a live video of them performing during this past CMJ. Watch it HERE. The Grizzled Mighty was formed in the fiery belly of an active volcano. From the center of the Earth they erupted, spewed forth like a flaming phoenix. Ryan rose from the ashes of destruction, guitar in hand, bringing the erotic riffs of Hades to the trembling surface. Lupe, agent of evil and harbinger of chaos, descended swiftly as a rain of fire, striking the roiling bedrock like the Hammer of Thor. Together they create a force that rips the very fabric of space and time. There is no escaping The Grizzled Mighty. The Grizzled Mighty are Ryan Granger (Vocals, Guitar) and Lupe Flores (Drums). They live in Seattle and their third album, Closed Knuckle Jaw, is being released via Red Bull Sound Select on February 17, 2015 Keep an eye on your inbox for a digital servicing of the album within the upcoming weeks.
