Lockn’ Festival, formerly known as Interlocken Music Festival is this year’s MUST ATTEND in the world that is music festivals. As a festival goer myself, I am excited to be apart of what people say is one of the best music events to experience in your lifetime. I am really looking forward to seeing this year’s lineup featuring some music all-stars: String Cheese & The Gang (A Tribute to Kool & The Gang featuring The String Cheese Incident), The Allman Brothers Band, Phil Lesh & Friends, Umphrey’s McGee and Widespread Panic to name just a few. Lockn’ provides campsites with options ranging from car camping, RV camping, and tent-only camping. Once inside, campsite made and tapestries hung, you can head into the concert site where you can bring blankets and chairs to sit on – but who is really going to be sitting? Two side by side main stages features full sets that run seamlessly from one to the other, giving the audience a very unique experience. Lockn’ also provides an array of delicious food vendors serving everything from tacos and thai to donuts and hot dogs. Oh and if the music alone doesn’t keep you occupied, this one of a kind event also offers special activities for those looking to make the most out of every hour. The Trinity Episcopal Church will be offering trips to a private swimming hole on the Tye River. Disc Golf and Opal Yoga will also be featured as a premiere activity for the weekend. Check out Thursday – Sunday’s schedule and plan accordingly. You don’t want to miss the amazing talent paired with a one of a kind experience. Fresh off the Rock Legends Cruise and an extensive 22 country tour, The Royal Southern Brotherhood played Vinyl in Atlanta, Georgia on January 16, 2012 and rocked a packed house. Their show consisted of songs off their self-titled debut album that has been nominated for best new rock blues album of the year as well as some hot covers by the Rolling Stones and The Allman Brothers Band. Bear Creek Music Festival 2012 Recap from Guest Columnist Lindsey Jo Riley and Photos by Shea Jarman/Groovelive

Bear Creek Music Festival 2012 Recap from Guest Columnist Lindsey Jo Riley and Photos by Shea Jarman/Groovelive

Feb 8, 2013

The 2012 Bear Creek Music Festival at the Spirit of Suwannee Music Park was a funfest filled with incredible music, an abundance of food, and amazing artists. Nowhere could you turn without seeing smiling faces, dancing, and people just having a genuinely good time. The lineup for the festival was incredible. Thomas Wynn and the Believers belted out soulful, heartfelt tunes while March Fourth Marching Band got the crowd dancing with their impressive 20 person set up. Zach Deputy wowed the crowd with his one man show, and Umphrey’s McGee put on three shows with an amazing light display. Artists were painting and showing their work during performances, and creative juices were flowing anywhere and everywhere. While many artists and bands performed at the festival, Groovelive chose to spotlight three bands/artists that stood out in particular. We were also fortunate to sit down with bands Bright Light Social Hour, The Heavy Pets, and Zach Deputy and discuss their Bear Creek experiences and plans for 2013. SPOTLIGHT: BRIGHT LIGHT SOCIAL HOUR Jack O’Brien – vocals, bass Curtis Roush – vocals, guitar A.J. Vincent – vocals, keyboards Joseph Mirasole – drums Bright Light Social Hour managed to draw quite a crowd for both of their performances, even with a show that happened to be scheduled at the same time as the beloved Umphrey’s McGee. Once the band started to play, the crowd couldn’t sit still, and were soon up and dancing for the entirety of each performance. Along with their soulful tunes and mesmerizing lights, their act was hard to beat. Q: What was Bear Creek like for the band? Did you guys have any interesting experiences while at the festival? Jo: It was a trip! We have a special place in our hearts for festivals and the crowds at them, and Bear Creek definitely didn’t let us down. The crowds were really fun both nights, and particularly dancy (or hippie groovin’) which I’ve got a soft spot for. All the Spanish moss trees are worth going for alone – the lake in the middle of one of the campsites is nuts, the natural amphitheatre qualities and production of the main stage was incredible, and everyone couldn’t...

Carolina Liar on Their Latest Tour with Kelly Clarkson and The Fray-Interview By Guest Writer Lindsey Jo Riley

Carolina Liar on Their Latest Tour with Kelly Clarkson and The Fray-Interview By Guest Writer Lindsey Jo Riley

Sep 7, 2012

On Wednesday, August 8th, I sat down with L.A. based band Carolina Liarbefore their show at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in Alpharetta, GA. The band is currently on a nationwide tour with Kelly Clarkson and The Fray, and enjoying the success of their latest album Wild Blessed Freedom.  I was expecting a run-of-the-mill interview, but I was pleasantly surprised by the band’s sense of humor and just how down to earth they were. Amidst the many laughs, front man Chad Wolf along with his band mates talked about their latest tour, velvet Elvis paintings, Ace of Base covers, their latest musical influences, and potential plans after finishing the tour. Chad Wolf: Vocals and Guitar Rickard Göransson: Guitar Johan Carlsson: Keyboards Peter Carlsson: Drums & Percussion How’s the experience of touring with Kelly Clarkson and The Fray going so far? Chad: Pretty magical actually. They’re pretty fun people. In Orange Beach, the last place we played, Kelly rented a twenty foot inflatable waterslide, and we had it backstage, and so we had a water party. The thing was it started a couple of days before that with the guys from The Fray. They went out and bought some AstroTurf and some kiddy pools and some lawn chairs and set up this whole little pool party in the parking lot. Then Kelly took it to this nuclear level. We were out there on the waterslide until almost midnight after the show. [laughs] It was amazing. It was awesome. So you guys are meshing really well? Chad: Oh, yeah. We’re having a good time. Now we’re just trying to figure out how in the hell we’re going to even come close to even topping something like that. It’s our turn. * The band started brainstorming with Johan first suggesting a Sumo suit waterslide and Rickard chiming in with the suggestion of Velcro wall. As the suggestions kept coming along with bursts of laughter, it was clear just how well these guys get along. You guys are touring with Kelly Clarkson, but you also have your own headlining shows, too. Which do you prefer? Chad: I like this, actually. Believe me, there’s no way to lie about it. You...
