CAMP Skincare – All Natural and Organic Beauty Products

CAMP Skincare – All Natural and Organic Beauty Products

Oct 27, 2016

If I asked you what ingredients are in your face lotion, could you name them? Or better yet, could you pronounce them? Having great skin is an indicator of one’s health. The skin is the largest organ on the body. It only makes sense to treat it with the utmost care. Most, if not all, mainstream beauty products contain harsh chemicals and preservatives. Ever heard of Phthalates or how about Tricolson? Yikes!  They are meant to last on a shelf, not on your face.  After cycling through multiple beauty products, I finally found one to call my own: CAMP Skincare, a Toronto based line of beauty products that promote smart skincare using only Mother Nature’s ingredients.  I am a huge fan of the “Ying-Yang Balancing Facial Oil.”  As a repeat customer, I find that this oil leaves my skin feeling super soft and hydrated.  Did I mention that it smells amazing!? Ingredients: Cherry Kernel Oil: “Very high in linoleic acid, an essential fatty acid known to effectively reduce acne while restores skin’s barrier function for a more supple, clear complexion.” Watermelon Seed Oil: “Contains over 60% linoleic acid and has the ability to dissolve sebum. Also contains lycopene, a powerful free radical scavenger.” Argan Oil: “Known as “liquid gold,” this precious moisturizer is high in Vitamin E, polyphenols and potent phytosterols known to stimulate cell regeneration.” Pomegranate seed oil: “Studies have shown that the polyphenols found in this superfood oil may prevent wrinkle formation and reverse photo-aging caused by the UV destruction of collagen.” Camellia seed oil: “Cold-pressed from the seeds of the tea plant, this moisturizing oil is extremely high in oleic acid which delivers Vitamin-E-rich moisture for diminished fine lines and wrinkles.” Borage Seed Oil: “The greatest natural source of GLA – an omega 6 fatty acid that stimulates skin cell regeneration.” Ylang Ylang Essential Oil: “Balancing. Improves hydration in dry skin and regulates sebum in oily skin.” Pink Grapefruit Peel Essential Oil: “Detoxifying. Refreshes and tones skin with a healthy dose of vitamin C.” You can feel the love that founder, Lisa, puts in each and every product.  You are getting what you pay for at $30 for a 1 oz bottle.  However, my philosophy...

Chef David Pan Wins Flavor Award

Chef David Pan Wins Flavor Award

Sep 28, 2016

Chef David Pan earned the Flavor Award at the Wharf Uncorked Food & Wine Festival in Orange Beach. As this chef’s style is traditional French cooking for current times, his winning dish was a Boeuf Bourguignon with Roasted Garlic Pomme Purée. Held in mid-September, the three day event combines tastings of delicious food and tantalizing wines, live entertainment, a pinch of southern flare and a dash of Gulf Coast hospitality. “As flavor is the most important part of cuisine, it is quite an honor to win this particular award,” said Chef David Pan of Orange Beach Concierge. “Additionally, as sponsors for the entire festival, it is exciting to know that over $15,000 was raised for Make a Wish Alabama.” Chef David Pan’s specialty is French methods while remaining focused on the latest trends and techniques in the industry. After graduating from Le Cordon Bleu Mendota Heights, Chef Pan began his career at the 3 Diamond rated WA Frost in St. Paul under Chef Russell Kline. He expanded his culinary experience working with noted chefs at elite establishments that included the Minneapolis Club, James Beard winning Gustavus Inn, Fishers Orange Beach along with Brick and Spoon. Last year, he launched Orange Beach Concierge, one of the only private dining services in the area. While he is new to the coast, his culinary impact is already well known by his peers. Upon entering the 4000 square foot restaurant, guests will walk past chairlifts hanging from the ceiling, ski posters and local JHMR signs in a small dining room filled with dark wooden tables and cafeteria swinging chairs. Menu boards, posters, TVs, concert memorabilia and local art will also fill the walls leading up to an order counter in the main dining room that is directly across from a designed wooden pallet wall. This space will have an industrial feel with a 30 foot tall open ceiling, exposed mechanical system and wood/steel beams. Capacity is 125 inside with bar, banquet and community table seating. There is a beautiful outdoor dining space on the balcony that seats another 16 with views of Snow King and the shops along town square. Additionally, a private event space upstairs is available for smaller gatherings from viewing football games to birthday parties. “After being a fan of Moe’s Original Bar B Que in college and having a love of the mountains and skiing, I moved out west to work at the corporate headquarters in Vail, CO. I knew it was time to open a location of my own after learning all aspects of the company for five years,” said co-owner David Fogg. “When the founding partners told me that Tom Fay was interested in opening a Moe’s in another world class ski town, I was very interested. After meeting Tom and seeing his success in owning Pinky G’s, I was easily sold and knew it was a perfect fit to partner with him on this venture.” Recognized with many awards, Moe’s Original Bar B Que has been named one of the Top 10 Rib Joints in the...
