Carolina Liar on Their Latest Tour with Kelly Clarkson and The Fray-Interview By Guest Writer Lindsey Jo Riley

Carolina Liar on Their Latest Tour with Kelly Clarkson and The Fray-Interview By Guest Writer Lindsey Jo Riley

Sep 7, 2012

On Wednesday, August 8th, I sat down with L.A. based band Carolina Liarbefore their show at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in Alpharetta, GA. The band is currently on a nationwide tour with Kelly Clarkson and The Fray, and enjoying the success of their latest album Wild Blessed Freedom.  I was expecting a run-of-the-mill interview, but I was pleasantly surprised by the band’s sense of humor and just how down to earth they were. Amidst the many laughs, front man Chad Wolf along with his band mates talked about their latest tour, velvet Elvis paintings, Ace of Base covers, their latest musical influences, and potential plans after finishing the tour. Chad Wolf: Vocals and Guitar Rickard Göransson: Guitar Johan Carlsson: Keyboards Peter Carlsson: Drums & Percussion How’s the experience of touring with Kelly Clarkson and The Fray going so far? Chad: Pretty magical actually. They’re pretty fun people. In Orange Beach, the last place we played, Kelly rented a twenty foot inflatable waterslide, and we had it backstage, and so we had a water party. The thing was it started a couple of days before that with the guys from The Fray. They went out and bought some AstroTurf and some kiddy pools and some lawn chairs and set up this whole little pool party in the parking lot. Then Kelly took it to this nuclear level. We were out there on the waterslide until almost midnight after the show. [laughs] It was amazing. It was awesome. So you guys are meshing really well? Chad: Oh, yeah. We’re having a good time. Now we’re just trying to figure out how in the hell we’re going to even come close to even topping something like that. It’s our turn. * The band started brainstorming with Johan first suggesting a Sumo suit waterslide and Rickard chiming in with the suggestion of Velcro wall. As the suggestions kept coming along with bursts of laughter, it was clear just how well these guys get along. You guys are touring with Kelly Clarkson, but you also have your own headlining shows, too. Which do you prefer? Chad: I like this, actually. Believe me, there’s no way to lie about it. You...

Mayhem Fest afterparty with ThroatpuncH at 120 Tavern and Music Hall- By guest reporter Bonnie Moret

Mayhem Fest afterparty with ThroatpuncH at 120 Tavern and Music Hall- By guest reporter Bonnie Moret

The 120 Tavern and Music Hall prides itself on great drink specials, delicious meals, and fast, friendly service. It gives Marietta a completely new idea of what Southern Hospitality really is.  Take it from me, bartenders Perry, Whittney, and Keith are all about service with a smile–cheers! But, the BEST thing about the 120 Tavern and Music Hall is, well, THE MUSIC, and award-winning ThroatpuncH totally rocked the house for the Mayhem Fest Afterparty. For the record, ThroatpuncH lived up to their winning reputation, delivering a high-energy, full-volume show.  Singer Adam Lahr, who lost of two dear friends that week, channeled his emotions into lyrics, and delivered a stellar performance.  Bassist Paul Lawrence, guitarists Robert Arsenault and Ashley Taylor, drummer Vic Ferla, and the wickedly masked Albin Carey Blomkvest all played their A-game!  The playlist for the evening included: Capt. Jack, Pains and Prose, Demonica, Nemesis, Lucky, Devil’s Parade, Fester and Dementia, Mr. Moneybags, Murder 1, and No Thank You. ThroatpuncH thrives on engaging the fans.  On several occasions, Paul and Robert walked off stage and played in the audience …  talk about arousing the crowd!  And speaking of engaging the fans, the guys let the fans vote on their name, too.  Yes, ThroatpuncH was the winning name in a fan-based poll. If you missed the Mayhem Afterparty Fest at the 120 Music Hall and Tavern, you can catch ThroatpuncH on Saturday, August 18th, at Club Staxx. In addition, please vote for them in the Rockstar Energy Drink UPROAR Festival Battle Of The Bands, by visiting http://battle.rockstaruproar.com/u/ThroatpuncH2012, as they must win and be seen on the big stage at Aaron’s Amphitheatre at Lakewood later this summer. For more info on Throatpunch, visit www.throatpunchmusic.com. Special thanks to Brian Harris, for having my back and capturing the stunning image of Albin! Well, that’s the report for now.  Until next time … keep rockin’! – Bonnie Moret Bonnie is a freelance photographer and writer. Quiet Riot Alienate Fans and Friends in and Attempt to Cover Wrong Doings to Now Fired Singer Mark Huff

Quiet Riot Alienate Fans and Friends in and Attempt to Cover Wrong Doings to Now Fired Singer Mark Huff

Jan 13, 2012

After my article yesterday on Mark Huff, the now former Quiet Riot singer, fired as he sat in his hospital room having his head shaved for brain surgery; there was a mass pouring of emotions across the internet from fans and friends of Mark Huff. People asking for their money back for tickets they had purchased, and saying they only wanted to go to see Mark, among the many other outcries of anger over his wrong doing. Quiet Riot eventually released a half cocked statement, saying they sent Mark a certified letter and making insinuations that Mark may be lying about being in the hospital. From QR Facebook page: “With regards to Mark Huff: My policy has always been not to air out the dirty laundry in public. That policy remains the same even in light of those who chose to make accusations. The fact is that Mr. Huff’s medical condition had nothing to do with the decision that was made though it is unfortunate that it comes at such a time. His wife assured me that Mark would be home this week, and as legal protocol dictated, a certified letter was sent informing Mark of the decision that was made and why it was made. This was days ago. The content of that letter is a private matter unless Mr. Huff decides to make the reason for his dismissal made public which I believe would be counterproductive for him. I will not go tit for tat with this issue. If certain person wish to villainies me, that is their prerogative.” This statement from the band sent out a rash of angry protests from friends and fans alike, I myself as the writer of the original article that soared the web, ended up in a conversation on MY Facebook page with a certain drummers girlfriend, whom insisted that a certified letter had been sent by them to Mark Huff, and that Mark was lying, which only lit my fuse because I KNOW for a fact that Mark is not lying. After said “girlfriend”, invaded my Facebook, myself and fans started noticing they were deleting any post on their page with the truth and only...

Frontman of Quiet Riot Mark Huff, Released from Band Through an Online Article as He Sits in a Hospital Preparing for Brain Surgery

Jan 12, 2012

When I met Mark Huff of Quiet Riot, I was just a sound and stage crew person at a show they were playing here in Atlanta, and he didn’t know my music background or anything about me. He came in with the band to sound check, standing beside me as we worked on the drums. Very quiet yet friendly, and noticed the tattoo of my mic on my arm. We started talking about it, and he said he was getting the same mic in the same spot on his at some point. We left it at that and they headed back to the hotel till show time. The guys came back later that evening to a very busy me, we had Art from Everclear on the other side and I was back and forth between stages. Everyone headed to the Quiet Riot stage after, and I climbed up onto the stage behind the sound board, very curious as to what the new singer had to offer, as well as Quiet Riot that I had not seen in a long time. What I got was vocals like I haven’t heard since having the same experience from stage with Ronnie James Dio. Just amazing vocals from a freaking great person. Mark would send a smile over as my mouth was on the floor, and after the show I was able to pull away and talk with him a bit, snap a picture, and tell him how amazing his voice was. Mark and I ended up staying friends, he reached out, or I did one on Facebook, and he and I became friends. We would send out a pic or text from a show we were at; him excitedly sending shots from the stage as his dreams came true. We would text seeing how one another were, where we were, or just random silly things. Then about two weeks ago my friend sent a text that would send me in a rush to get love and energy out his way. “I am going into surgery soon, they are operating on my brain, please pray for me, I’m scared.” I don’t want to share any more of the...
